RXO CEO and Internal Audit leader honored with prestigious annual award

Press Release | Charlotte, NC | May 17, 2023

RXO (NYSE: RXO), a leading provider of asset-light transportation solutions, announced today that Drew Wilkerson, chief executive officer, and Robert Johnson, senior director of internal audit, were selected to the Charlotte Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 2023 class. The honorees will be formally recognized at an awards event on May 17 and featured in a CBJ special report on May 19

“We are thrilled to have two of our leaders selected to the 40 under 40 list,” said Heidi Ratti, chief human resources officer at RXO. “Drew and Robert continue to elevate our organization through their leadership within RXO and in the Charlotte community, and we are pleased to see their efforts being recognized.”

Wilkerson, 39, was tapped to lead RXO after the spin from XPO in November 2022 and has grown the RXO business to be a leader in asset-light transportation. Under Wilkerson’s leadership, RXO has exponentially grown its proprietary brokerage platform that connects more than 10,000 customers and 100,000 independent carriers to move freight more efficiently. Wilkerson helped establish a positive and inclusive work culture at RXO and continues to focus on ways to support military veterans within the business. He is also active in the Charlotte community, supporting several ministries as well as Bright Blessings, which provides services for children experiencing homelessness and financial hardship in the greater Charlotte region.

Johnson, 36, leads a team of auditors at RXO that evaluate corporate risk and identify opportunities to optimize business processes. He is a long-time Charlotte resident, graduating from Johnson C. Smith University and earned his Master in Business Administration from Wake Forest University. Outside the office, Johnson serves on the Board of Directors for the YMCA of Greater Charlotte. He has also previously served on boards in underrepresented communities where he has provided mentorship, fundraising more than a million dollars and supporting internships for historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs).

The 40 Under 40 program, in its 30th year, spotlights 40 individuals under the age of 40 who are making a difference in the region. This year, more than 280 candidates were nominated. Honorees were selected based on noteworthy leadership, professional accomplishments and contributions to greater Charlotte.
