While demand for wireless devices and connections are increasing rapidly in demand, the need for secure and wired networks and equipment to offer powerful wireless systems is a must.

In need of a 3PL partner to help visual tracking and reporting elements to properly manage its transportation needs, a major telecommunications company approached RXO for a multi-faceted solution. The company was  looking to establish SLAs and implement reporting for on-time pickups, on-time deliveries, industry trends, volumes and more. 

After working with the business, RXO”s Managed Transportation team was able to build and implement a lean strategy to address the company’s variety of needs.

  • Introduced RXO Connect™ as the new order entry platform that also provides track and trace options and the ability to query rates on desired lanes. The client’s vendors would also use the system to track and trace shipments and aid in their billing processes.
  • Launch of visual management tools such as Power BI, weekly metrics of on-time pickups and deliveries and monthly SLA updates.
  • As the program grew, the company discovered that they also needed assistance managing their purchase orders. RXO launched a 4-week PO Management implementation to accommodate this urgent customer need.

RXO’s approach allowed for optimized transportation modes, factoring in volume and assigning the best mode and equipment type to each shipment, resulting in cost savings and elimination of waste. Checks and balances were put into place to ensure that all shipments were shipped based on logic provided from the customer. This resulted in the customer maintaining a 98.6% record for on-time pickups and 99.2% for on-time deliveries. By adding Parcel Management, the customer saw a reduction in overall parcel spend through service level compliance and mode optimization.

By adding the customer’s dedicated fleet partners to the RXO Connect™ TMS, the customer was also able to increase their overall utilization through dynamic routing, back haul planning, and reducing down time of truck and trailers.The program has experienced continuous volume growth over the first three years.

With the measurable success, the customer recently signed a 4-year extension to continue building the program with RXO to drive further operational efficiencies and cost savings.
